Profile of this day
In the morning we will pick you up at your hotel in Prague (or Vienna) and drive you to Jindřichův Hradec, a historic Renaissance town with its own dominant castle. This day you will ride through countryside featuring lakes and pine groves. This picturesque landscape is filled with romantic hideaways, meadows surrounded by forests, and ponds, founded in medieval period by famous hydro engineer Jakub Krčín. In the afternoon you ride to Třeboň, the center of Czech fishing as well as a town rich in Renaissance architecture with its own castle and spa. Overnight in Třeboň.

Profile of this day
Today several highlights await you! Quite and easy ride, leading firstly through pine forests and ponds to Hluboka nad Vltavou, arguably the most beautiful castle of Czech Republic. Don´t miss the castle tour! After lunch, continue on a new smooth cycle track Greenway RD ( Eurovelo 7 ) along the Vltava river to České Budejovice, the city, that gave the name to the famous Czech beer Budweisser Budvar. We reccommend you to taste the local beer specialities at Masne Kramy restaurant, the flag ship of Budvar Brewery or in the small private brewery Krajinská 27 . Overnight in České Budejovice.
31—50 km
(19—31 miles)
Profile of this day
Today there are two options. A shorter relaxing route leads on the main cycle track Greenway RD ( Eurovelo 7 ), folowing the Vltava river valley through the picturesque villages including Zlata Koruna, with its famous 13th. century monastery and ending in Cesky Krumlov, the pearl of Czech Republic. You can spend the afternoon wandering through the narrow streets, visiting castle museum or just relaxing on the boat trip on the Vltava river. If 30km of cycling is not enough for you, choose the second option. The route leads through rolling terrain to Holasovice (UNESCO), village famous for its “village baroque style” houses and then climbes through Blansky Forest to Cesky Krumlov. If you feel tired, you can use the chairlift in Krasetin which takes you and your bike to Kleť, the highest peak of Blansky forest park. At the top you can take in the views from the stone lookout and then enjoy 11km of downhill riding to Cesky Krumlov. Overnight in Cesky Krumlov.
35—54 km
(22—34 miles)
Profile of this day
In the morning we will transport you by car (about 20 minutes) to Frymburk, a small town on the bank of Lake Lipno. On this day, you can choose from three routes of different lengths, which lead along car-free trails around the lake and the Vltava River. For this reason, you can start in the morning or even in the early afternoon if you want to spend more time in Český Krumlov. The shortest route runs only along the lake with a detour to the ruins of Vitkov Kamen Castle, whose tower offers a beautiful view of Lake Lipno. The other two routes continue along the new cycle path through the national nature reserve Čertova Stěna to Vyšší Brod, the mecca of Czech paddlers and an impressive Cistercian monastery. One of the routes then returns along the other side of the Vltava River back to Lake Lipno and the other one, more challenging, continues along the border with Austria, through the location of abandoned villages. All three routes end in Kyselov, from where you can take a ferry to your hotel on the other side of the lake. Overnight in Dolni Vltavice.
49—60 km
(30—37 miles)
Profile of this day
In the morning, take the ferry back to the other side of the lake. Today’s journey takes you first into Austria, and then the route follows the Schwarzeberg Canal, a national cultural monument, which was used to transport timber in the past. The route leads through the Šumava National Park to Nová Pec, where the Vltava River flows into Lake Lipno. On the other side of the lake, trail 33 will lead you back to your hotel. If you find today’s route short, you can extend it with a detour to Jelení vrchy, where you can also see the Schwarzeberg Canal exposition. Especially on the way from Nova Pec to your hotel you will have many opportunities for swimming and sunbathing. Overnight in Dolní Vltavice.

(35 miles)
Profile of this day
Today we will leave the forested landscape of Šumava National Park and drive first (about 2.5 hours) to Melk, Austria, a picturesque town on the banks of the Danube in the Wachau wine region, with an impressive Baroque monastery. Today’s route follows the famous Danube bike trail to the historic town of Ybbs an der Donau, then continues along the other bank to Marbach an der Donau and climbs through hilly wine country to Maria Taferl, the most important pilgrimage site in Lower Austria. This place is mystical and the views of the Danube valley are magnificent. After refreshments, you will then have an easy 15 km descent back to Melk. Overnight in Melk.
59 km
(37 miles)
Profile of this day
The last day leads along the left bank of the Danube, lined with vineyards and orchards. You’ll visit the famous wine villages of Weissenkirchen and Spitz, where you’ll have many opportunities to taste the local, mainly white, wines and other specialities offered in the local “Heuriges” wine bars. The highlight of the day will then be a visit of Dürnstein, one of the most beautiful towns of the enchanting Wachau Valley. The town is dominated by the local monastery and is overlooked from the top by the castle where the English King Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned. Return to Melk on the other side of the river. If the route seems too long or you are tired of wine tasting, you can always shorten your journey by taking the ferry. Overnight in Melk.
Enjoy your last day in Melk. Transfer by train from Melk to Vienna.
