Many highlights during this trip discovering beautiful parts of the country and interesting hospitality stops along the route but my favourite has to be riding through the majestic entrance to Cesky Krumlov!

We loved our biking tour in South Bohemia! We did the self-guided tour with our son and his fiance. The biking was on wonderful bike paths and very quiet roads through spectacular country side. The towns that we stayed in were full of history, culture and great food. Petr and his crew were amazing. Every detail and logistic was thought out and well executed.

Five stars! Petr was well organized and met our every expectation from the shuttle pick up to bike drop off. The routes were well curated and much more interesting than I expected. We rode through farmland, rolling meadows, acres of forest, up a ski hill, and next to lakes along gravel, trail, and paved roads. It was a variety of terrain and road surfaces which kept it fun. The navigation was super easy with the cell phone provided and the paper maps. The accommodation was fine and when we arrived at the hotels we were expected and greeted by the staff. This was a very successful trip for us.

The tour plan was perfect and the service was both efficient and personal. The routes, stopping options and accommodations represented a great blend of historic, natural and contemporary sights and experiences. A minor technical problem with an ebike was fixed quickly with the cost reimbursed without any issue by the tour company. The owner and staff of Czech Bike Tours are wonderful.

We both absolutely loved our bike tour. It was well organised from the communication, to picking us up in Prague to the the mobile phone containing the route. The route we took was wonderful, a good mixture of villages, lakes and forests. We liked all towns , cities and hotels, especially the 1st hotel in Ceske Budovijce . It was especially good having the summer festival on at the same time. I was particularly grateful to you Petr for sorting my seat out

Petr and his crew were very responsive. Petr picked us up at our hotel in Vienna and got us on our way. The route was a mixture of low traffic public roads and unique but firm remote trails. Great wooded paths. It exceeded our expectations. We lost GPS in some of the remote areas but the book guided us through.

I am so glad we chose Czech Bike Tours for our cycling trip between Prague and Vienna.. Everything was carefully planned and executed to make sure our journey was safe and fun. The routes were well thought out to take us to so many beautiful spots, the e bikes were excellent, hotels were super comfortable and welcoming, and most of all Petr was an excellent communicator and we felt fully supported with our GPS, maps and booklets. We did the Prague-Vienna Odyssey, which provided a great variety of terrain, a perfect physical challenge to make us feel we had earned our meals, and a wonderful collection of towns, monasteries, castles, farms and other sights. Courtney was an amazing guide, sensitive to our needs, informed about all the places we went, and a highly entertaining storyteller. We loved getting to know some of rest of the CBT crew too--Adam, Bobes, Teresa and Petr were all delightful. We were so pampered on this trip, with tuned up bikes every day, beautiful picnics, great hotels, nice dinners and everything else we could possibly need taken care of. Amazing trip that exceeded our wildest expectations!

We loved everything about the trip, but if we had to choose, it would just be the experience of riding through adorable villages. All the places we went were interesting and beautiful, but the best was seeing how people lived.

Dear Peter, Bobes and CBT Staff, Fred and I want to thank you again for our super Greenway II -Mikulov-Telc-Cesky Krumlov Tour that we took with you September 14-22, 2016 along with our friends Julane and Art Anderson. We learned so much about the Czech Republic on this trip and were so surprised to discover what a bike friendly country we were in. I also wrote to Biketours.com and told them that we appreciated how well run your tour was, the interesting places that we went and how much we appreciated all the pre-tour and tour information that you gave us. I would have posted a 5-star review on their web site except that their marketing department had currently removed this tour from their web site. (I told them to put it back in). We did find the tour somewhat more difficult than we expected, especially day 4 where we biked from Hnanice to Vranov nad Dyji. The steep, gravel grades were hard for us and we had to walk up quite often. Fred and I had to walk down, too, on some of them as we were quite concerned about falling (Fred was 80 and I was 73 at the time). The scenery in the National Park was really wonderful so walking was not a burden - but did slow us down. Since we had quite a few hills, we did not bike out to Novy Hradec nor did we go beyond the Iron Curtain exhibit on the route to Hardegg - we just did not have the strength or time to do more steep grades. I also want to mention one more difficult grade on Day 6 from Telc to Jindrichuv. Shortly after Mrakotin when we were in the forest on Rt. 1113 we were directed to stay on old 1113 and turn left. After a couple of kilometers, we crossed the creek and were to turn right to stay on old 1113. There was no sign at this intersection and the faint trail up the hill looked like it was no longer used. We hesitated at first but then we pushed our bikes up quite a way following what looked like an animal track not a trail before we finally joined a farm lane and then the road which led us into the little town of Svetla. Thank you for giving us maps as well as the GPS and cue sheet booklet. The map was clear that this was the correct way even though the GPS was lost and the trail did not look promising. My other comment is that the photos in the booklet were not particularly useful as they were not located next to the specific directions so you had to take the booklet out of the map holder and turn to a different page to see the photo. You could eliminate the photos - but still include the wonderful maps. Another possible hint. Since you emailed us the booklets before the tour, I had printed out all of the cue sheets and then cut and pasted the sections together for each day's ride. That way we each had a single long page for each day that we could use without having to turn pages. It is a hint that you could give other riders. Once again, many thanks for a great tour. We certainly will spread the work that you company has wonderful tours. After we reached Prague, we had booked a second tour Prague to Dresden with AVEtravel. Although we enjoyed this tour along the Vlatava and Elbe Rivers, AVE did not give us an orientation, only a little pre-tour information and a less useful GPS showing only a track line without the surrounding details of rivers, roads, rail lines, etc. Thanks again

We really enjoyed this trip - our first bike trip. Going Self-guided was no problem because of the thorough preparation of Petr and his team. We had maps, guide books and GPS- so in 3 days I think we made only 1 slight mistake which we corrected ourselves in 10 minutes The route was perfect - small villages, forest trails, quiet paths and streets, very little time on roads with traffic. We upgraded to e-Bikes which weren't really needed on this route, but made the rides a little easier and quicker for us. We'd recommend this trip to anyone wanting a relaxing way to visit the lovely small towns in Bohemia, and it was great to finish up in Pesky Krumlov! Petr even arranged an easy, nonstop, comfortable bus ride at the end of our trip that took us right to our next destination: Salzburg, Austria. (We did not need to return to Prague!)

It is so hard to pick just one! We loved every minute of our Prague to Vienna Odyssey. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. It was a pleasure getting to know them. The wonderful picnic lunches were an unexpected and very welcome surprise. All the routes, were varied, and fun, so I felt we got a good taste of your beautiful country. I loved riding through the forests and countryside, through villages, and along lakes and the Danube. The e‑bikes were very helpful to me. We dont have hills in Florida, US! Everyday held something special. The various hotels were fun, and the dinners were fabulous! Cesky Krumlov was probably my favorite, if I had to choose just one.

You did such a great job, it is hard to think of anything. Possibly confirm, at time of balance due if your clients wanted any extras, like e‑bikes. At the start of the guided tours it might be a good idea if all the riders put the guides cell phone numbers in their phones, in case anyone goes astray. The whole trip was so incredible that it is hard to say one highlight. Cruising through the forest, catching four tabby cats lounging on a brick wall in a small village, getting caught in a rain, passing blooming flowers in a meadow, the church at Maria Taferl, etc. It was perfect.

I really appreciated having the cell phone with the map app because I didn’t get the Mio Cyclo gps to work well for me. The cell phone was a great backup. The bikes were a bit heavy, but I appreciated them with the front suspension when we were on some of the rougher paths. The bikes held up well. Good seats too.

The Czech Bike Tours trips are well organized and a great value, compared to other larger tour organizers. Petr Janota’s personal touch is evident throughout. The planned routes take you away from busy roads and guide you through the Czech countryside on national bike trails and quiet backroads. The biking equipment provided was first rate, and well suited for the routes. We booked the self-guided Prague-Vienna Odyssey for the last week in September, so we were one of Petr’s last trips for the season. He personally picked us up in Prague and drove us to Jindřichův Hradec to start out tour. Over coffee in a small café, he laid out the materials for our trip: guidebooks with directions and photographs, detailed maps, a GPS navigation system, and a local Czech cell phone. We relied primarily on the GPS, but we had at least two backups at the ready. Over the next seven days we enjoyed a different cycling experience each day, followed by wonderful hotels, and great meals at the restaurants Petr had recommended. Petr’s son picked up the luggage each day and moved it to the next destination. Many of the days offered a choice of routes to the next destination, so you could pick your level of difficulty. At the end of the trip, Petr again picked us up personally, and drove us two hours to our train station. We highly recommend Czech Bike Tours to any North American cyclists looking to tour in the Czech Republic and Austria. I had an absolutely wonderful bicycling trip with Czech Bike Tours (CBT) this past fall! From September 24th to October 1st I biked from Mikulov in southern Moravia to Český Krumlov in southern Bohemia, passing though the Czech countryside and lovely cities and villages, all while using the Czech Republic’s excellent bicycle path network. At every step of the way CBT provided me with excellent service, and I felt well taken care off. Petr Janota, the owner of CBT, was always prompt in answering all the questions I had via email before the trip (always within 24 hours), and he personally drove me from Prague to the start of my tour in Mikulov where I received a detailed orientation and got my bike adjusted to my height. As an American, I was astounded by the excellent bike infrastructure in the Czech Republic. There’s a vast network of well-marked cycling paths crisscrossing the country, not to mention bike lanes in cities with a reasonable amount of traffic. I found plenty of bike racks/bike parking in front of attractions like the castles in Valtice, Vranov nad Dyjí, Landštejn, and Hluboké nad Vltavou as well as supermarkets. Bicycling trips are popular among Czechs themselves, and cars seem to respect bicyclists a hell of a lot more than they do in the USA. I never worried about getting lost as I had a GPS with the routes preprogrammed, paper maps with the routes highlighted, paper turn-by-turn directions, and a GPS app on a cellphone. I liked having access to all of those things, and I studied the paper maps in my hotel rooms in the evening. The cellphone (with a Czech sim card) I was provided had some very helpful apps, such as a Czech/English translator and mapy.cz. I used the translator mainly to translate signs on the road and in town, and mapy.cz was excellent for helping me known my exact location and getting a layout of the various towns I biked through. I felt that the difficulty of my route (moderate – experienced as rated by CBT), Greenway I. Mikulov - Český Krumlov, was accurate. This isn’t a trip for a beginning cyclist, and there are just enough elevation gain and off-road/dirt/gravel sections of the trails where decent bike handling skills are a must. I brought my own bike pedals (and shoes to clip into them) and helmet, which I highly recommend for comfort. I wish this company all the best, and I highly recommend booking a bicycle tour with them!

What was the highlight of the trip for You?

The bicycle routes themselves were easily my favorite part of the trip. They were well designed and varied in scenery. I could tell that someone put a lot of thought into designing the routes and did a lot of riding to figure out the best roads/​paths to take that would be both enjoyable and pass by unique sights. And what do I mean by well designed? Well, the routes don’t always go from point A to point B by the most direct way, and they take you to more interesting places. For example, there is a straight, tree-lined, 5‑mile road that connects the chateaus of Valtice and Lednice. The CBT route between Valtice and Lednice bypassed this road entirely, taking me on paths through the forest and passing ornate monuments that I wouldn’t know existed, giving me a much more unique and enjoyable experience. As a foreigner, there’s no way that I would’ve developed those routes by myself, even if I had access to the excellent Czech bicycle route maps that were provided to me by CBT. The well-designed routes were worth just as much to me as all the other services that CBT provided, because when all is said and done I booked this trip because I enjoy bicycling. Some individual moments worth noting: ‑The first ride around the Pálava Hills was lovely, and I took detours to hike to castle ruins Dívčí Hrady and Sirotčí Hrádek. ‑Riding though many sections of Podyjí National Park near Znojmo ‑Entering Znojmo by climbing a steep road up from the Dyjí River that had spectacular views ‑The first sight of the city and castle of Vranov nad Dyjí on a curvy descent ‑The bike paths near Třeboň that crisscrossed forests and lakes ‑A lovely kayak trip down a section of the Vltava in Český Krumlov

What do You think we could do better?

’ve actually thought about this question for a while, and I can’t think of any major things Czech Bike Tours could’ve done to have made my trip better, beyond magically making me fluent in Czech! The bike equipment, the routes, the hotels, the luggage transfers, the bike routes, and the transport to and from Prague all happened without a hitch. Any minor problems/​annoyances I had were of my own making, and the one time I truly needed assistance while on the road (there was a dispute about payment at one of my hotels and a language barrier), Petr happily helped me over the phone early on a Sunday morning. With regards to the Czech Bike Tours website, I think it would be helpful to note that not all the routes are 100% paved. There are some off-road, dirt, and gravel sections. While this wasn’t an issue for me and the bike I was using was the right type to handle all the different road conditions (a hybrid bike with front suspension), it was unexpected and could be a bit of a shock to those used to riding exclusively on pavement.

It was very helpful to have the combination of maps, cue sheet, and GPS. I felt supported and cared about. Issues (including user error with the GPS) were addressed in a timely manner. It was a professionally run tour. I would ride with them again.

This bike trip was a highlight of our visit to Czechia. If you're interested in something more than tourist venues, museums and concerts, though these are meaningful and interesting, then consider this bike tour. You will learn more about the land, people and culture of this country than from any museum. This is also a kind of adventure. Go with your spouse or friends and learn about them in new ways as you together navigate the twists and turns of the bicycle paths. The equipment is excellent. Every aspect of service is handled with excellence.

We loved our biking with Czech Bike Tours. The people who helped us along the way (fitting bikes; transporting us) were friendly and professional and we loved the places we biked. Beautiful towns and amazing forest landscapes and so many more lakes (or ‘ponds’!) than expected. The weather was against us (worst storm in decades!) but Peter’s advice and organisation was faultless and we felt safe and cared for throughout.[Directions, maps and GPS equipment worked brilliantly and the hotels were low key, central, clean and comfortable, reflecting the character of the locality. We would very happily tour again with CzechBike tours.

It’s hard to single out a highlight, there were so many. We loved the backcountry roads, the multiple UNESCO towns, and Petr’s great service. Everywhere we stayed, the staff was friendly and helpful. The accomidations and food at the hltel Vinice Hnanice were especially nice.

Thanks Petr for a tremendous trip through southern Czechia! Service through Czech Bike Tours was top notch from pick up in Prague to drop off in Cesky Krumlov. We had the most fantastic bike tour around south bohemia with Czech Bike Tours! It was incredibly well organised with every little detail attended to. We were even given recommendations of sights to see and restaurants to visit in each place we visited. This was the best way to see the area! We recently went on a glorious 3 day South Bohemia self guided bike tour organized by Czech Bike Tours. Petr, the owner and organizer, sent his driver to pick us up in Brno and then personally met with us at the start of our trip. While he treated us to a lovely outdoor cafe lunch, he went over the route, provided us with the bikes (Pedelec in our case), helmets, maps, and trip GPS. The bike route alternated between forest paths, small picturesque towns, and soft green fields with rivers and lakes scattered throughout. The hotels were lovely, the restaurant suggestions excellent and our luggage was in our rooms upon arrival. Petr was always reachable and made his way to assist when one of the bikes had a problem. We felt very well taken care of. Our bike routes were easily navigated ( even in the uncharacteristic extreme heat of June 2019). We were blown away by the beauty of South Bohemia, the congenial people, and the delicious food - not to mention the fantastic beer! We wholeheartedly recommend Czech Bike Tours for an unforgettable holiday!

Thank you for a wonderful experience! Bohemia is beautiful and we enjoyed it. The hotels were nice with good locations and the 2nd and 3rd day breakfasts were outstanding. The bikes worked well and were solid with good seats, though we were really glad we had brought padded biking shorts. The pubs along the way were delightful and friendly. When we had a flat, other cyclists helped us repair it in a jiffy. When I hurt my knee slipping on some grass, I got help right away with a pick up and Petr let me use his crutches, and even take them since I could not walk well yet when we left. A unique experience and kudos to Petr's team and family who could not be more welcoming and kind. Thank you!

The highlight was the whole thing. I loved it! I want to do more vacations like this. I loved the long stretches on the bike paths or through forests that had no cars.

From the moment Petr collected us from our Prague hotel, we felt we were being looked after. Absolutely! I come from the Czech Republic and although I have not been living there for almost 40 years I am proud to "show off" the beauty of the countryside, beyond Prague and other tourist centers. For those intimidated by the distance I would suggest an e-bike, but completing the route on a regular bike gave me a huge sense of accomplishment. This trip was my dream for a few years and it has exceeded my expectations.

What was the highlight of the trip for You?

The whole thing was amazing. It was te perfect route, distance, lots of interesting things to see along the way with plenty of peaceful spots to stop along the way for a picnic. Stopping at a pond or in the forest for lunch that we usually brought with us was my favorite. We took the self guided tour but even then we felt like someone was watching over us along the way. Highlights: we spent an additional day around Mikulov and it was worth it, Slavonice, Znojmo. The Chatteau Vranov suprised us, beautiful.

Offering a cell phone holder for the bikes. The GPS navigation system was spotty at times due to satelite reception, Mapy.cz app seemed to be more reliable.

This trip was a wonderful opportunity to discover parts of Bohemia and the Wachau valley and cycle through some beautiful landscapes. It is difficult to pick one thing. From cycling through the forests to cycling through the vineyards on the Danube and everything in between it was extraordinary.Cesky Krumlov was stunning. We really enjoyed two nights in Cesky Krumlov as there was so much to see .We will never forget cycling around the lakes and stopping for strudel at any available spot. I completed the Best of South Morovia and South Bohemia ride. Czech Bike Tours did an excellent job patching together a route across the south of Czechia that covered the best of what is on offer. Information on the route and what to see along the way was complete with several mediums when one let you down. Recommended restaurants were always good. There was a bit more dirt and rough patches than I expected which make it a ride for a keen cyclist. Highly recommended

Almost all of the pictures were current, but a couple did not correlate. The same was true with the directions, particularly the trails in the Lake Lipno area. We really relied on the cue sheets and the pictures were fabulous - thanks for keeping them up to date! You made it very easy to ride and explore on a self-supported trip!

Our Mikulov-Cesky Krumlov tour was fantastic! It was the highlight of my time in Europe. Petr and his team are experts, I am so glad we chose his company, the whole experience was perfectly planned and so well organised. We did a self-directed tour, just 2 of us, so we were a little nervous about getting lost but the GPS, the maps and the guidebook kept us on the right path. The pace of the tour was perfect - a good balance of distance and difficulty across the 7 days. Each town we stayed in was spectacular and the scenery along the way was stunning, through vineyards and villages, passed castles, historic ruins, and through the national park. The hotels were so lovely and it was nice to arrive each day to find our luggage already delivered. This tour took us to parts of the Czech Republic we would not have otherwise seen. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was a brilliant experience!

It’s hard to pick just one part — it was all fantastic! Each of the towns we rode through were spectacular and the scenery on the way was stunning! I think Slavonice was our favourite place — the hotel was so great! We also really enjoyed Hotel Ryzlink in Mikulov — that was beautiful!

What do You think we could do better?

It would have been useful to have some lubricant in the repair kit — we had some issues with the gears on one of the bikes and we could not find a bike store that was open to get it fixed. A list of bike store locations would be helpful. The hotel in Trebon was the only disappointment ‑other than that the rest were of a very high standard. It would be good to make sure the guidebook and the GPS are matching — on day 2 the ride was about 15km longer than what was written in the book.

Roman was an incredible tour guide; his fluency in English was impressive! The stops at the places we could buy beer were fantastic! The bikes were in excellent condition and easy to navigate. The instructions by Roman were perfect and only one person got lost ( Sam who disappeared... and eventually showed up at the bike shop ). the number of people on the E-bike tour was perfect - any more and it would have been too much, so that worked out great. We really appreciated the pictures that were emailed to us too.

There are thousands of miles of trails and routes available to ride in the Czech Republic. We rode the Greenway II itinerary. You can ride the programmed routes or go off route with the GPS provided or the Mappy.cz app on your phone will get you either back on track or to your final destination. Everyone is different, but I would have liked the option of multiple routes per day that were pre-programmed so you could choose short, medium, or long rides without the hassle of potentially getting a little lost. More work for the company, but nice for the client. The routes provided were perfectly fine and enjoyable rides. Hotels were perfect and always within walking distance of the town squares, etc. Petr was fantastic. Pickup and return to Prague was perfect. Had an issue with a bike, luckily at the end of a ride, (partially user-related), and Petr replaced the bike before the next day's ride. I wanted to do an extra ride on the last day in Cesky and Petr accommodated me. He drove me out to the National Park about 30 miles away from Cesky and dropped me off. The 70K bike ride was beautiful and enjoyable. Upon returning and turning in the bike, I tried to pay Petr for the drive and the ride and he wouldn't accept anything. Wow! Now, don't expect that, but that's what you call great service and great customer support. I can't say enough about Petr and his crew in Cesky. All around fantastic folks and company. What was the highlight of the trip for You?

There wasn’t a major highlight, Each day had wonderful riding, nice views of the countryside, castles, chateaus and ended in nice small towns.

Do away with the printed route book. Put the routes into the Mappy.cz app.

What was the highlight of the trip for You?

There were so many highlights it is tough to pick one. The route was easy to follow and lead through some beautiful countryside, the hotels were great and were located in the middle of the places we wanted to see, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the suggestions of where to eat were bang on. The staff gave us many suggestions of places off the beaten trail of where to go for food and beer which were also great.

What do You think we could do better?

The town of Dolní Vltavice is pretty small and if you are there in weather that isn’t appropriate for the beach it can be a little quite. However, in the summer it would be a great place to be.
